The Best Kept Secret in Magic
  • Ventriloquial Vitality - Book by Val Andrews

The late Val Andrews was a well-known figure on the magic scene...particularly in his native Great Britain. He was one of of those "general practitioner" types... he worked every kind of gig imaginable. In his early days, he performed vent in addition to his better-known magic. He maintained an interest in ventriloquism throughout his life (eventually living with pro vent Terri Rogers) and at times worked as a scriptwriter for several prominent vents (including Albert Saveen).

This booklet of vent routines was produced especially for Supreme Magic of Bideford, Devon. There are eight complete routines in the book, six of which are for the traditional "cheeky boy" character. The other two routines are for a little girl character and a grandfather clock puppet (head in a box), respectively. The grandfather clock idea is nice...I'd love to see someone run with this clever idea today! Yes, some of the lines are dated and some of it is definitely "Brit-centric".... but that stuff is easily updated and adapted and you've got yourself some new, original material!

This SCARCE title is in very fine condition with a minor corner curl. No publication date (thanks, Supreme!). Measures 8" x 10". 22pp single-sided; softbound.
