One of my favorite things to do at magic conventions "back in the day" was to watch Al Cohen demonstrate his tricks. Al was the MAN when it came to demos. He not only made you like the trick, he made you like HIM...which I think is the most important thing. Al walked away with a sale, and you walked away with a new trick and the feeling that you'd made a friend.  Now that's REAL magic!

          This trick was one of Al's signature demo pieces.  He had the "real work" on it, for sure.  Show a beautifully precision-machined aluminum stylized tube (as seen in the photo). Hand this tube out for examination. The spectator will find that it unscrews in the middle into two pieces. Instruct the spectator to lock a solid aluminum disc "barrier" inside, separating one chamber from the other... there's just enough space to do this. There's no way anything can pass through the barrier locked inside the tube. Your spectators are sure of this.

        The magician now borrows several quarters from the spectators. One at a time, and with no sleight of hand at all, the borrowed coins penetrate the barrier as they are placed into one end of the tube and fall from the other. The moves are extremely easy to do, and can be mastered in a matter of minutes. Included is a diabolical Kicker Finish by Al Cohen: Watch their jaws drop when you reveal a C-sized battery inside the one side of the tube at the end of the trick....then a SECOND C-sized battery in the other side of the tube!

          This is one trick that always plays well for virtually ANY kind of audience...even kids! You'll have fun just coming up with clever presentational possibilities!
