The Best Kept Secret in Magic
  • Modern Ventriloquism - Book by Robert Ganthony

This is the Will Goldston (British) edition (mid 1920's) of Ganthony's classic late 1800's treatise on ventriloquism.

Not so much a "how to" book with lip technique, etc., this book was Ganthony's offering to "pro" vents. It's full of "up to date" and "modern" material in the form of sketches and routines. Of course, more than a hundred years later, it's neither "up to date" nor "modern!" Still, some of the premises in it are quite good and easily adaptable by the vent who is willing to put in a bit of work in material development.

As was Goldston's custom in books he published, various ads for items available from his magical supply depot are sprinkled throughout the book. Charming Edwardian illustrations used throughout.

          94pp, 5" x 7-1/4" hardcover.

This SCARCE title is in very fine condition, with only minor foxing of the pages. Minor soiling on front and back board covers with small price tag stain on lower right front cover. Comes in an archival mylar sleeve with acid-free backboard.
