Al Goshman Magic has produced a wonderful set of silks that packs small but plays big. BIG. I mean, HUGE!!! And the best part is, it plays upon a classic magic trope that all of your audiences will be familiar with.
You produce by your favorite method (which for me is simply removing it from my breast pocket) a lovely 18" silk. This silk is beautifully screened in black, red, orange and white. It depicts a magician's top hat - an iconic image if ever there was one! You display this 18 inch silk hanky on both sides. It is completely unprepared. You then asked the audience what most magicians use their top hats for. You can joke around that it's mainly to keep their heads warm, or you can say, "That's correct... It's where I keep my rabbit!"
You then drape the hat silk over your fist and reach "inside" the silk to produce a 9 inch silk from the larger silk. The 9 inch silk is screen printed with the cutesrt little chubby bunny you've ever seen! It's beautifully screened in blue, yellow and white.
The Bunny may be vanished again inside the top hat silk and once again the top hat silk may be shown front and back... it is completely unprepared.

I will even include a thumbtip for this trick so you don't need to go looking for one. This is one of those routines that works perfectly well as part of your planned program, or is ideal should you have to fill in for a moment or you need just a great opener that stands alone. It's extremely versatile, and I would strongly urge you to do a little research online and find Duane Laflin's son David performing this routine on video. Even if you don't use the gospel portion of his presentation, his handling of the props and the secular section of the routine are simply excellent. Use them as your own inspiration and you will be well rewarded.
This is a routine that due to the nature of the props can be used on the largest stage, yet will pack down into your breast pocket. Any true worker knows that routines like this are pure gold!
